Celia: The Life and Music of Celia Cruz opening to a star-studded premeire at the Adrienne Arsht Center

¡Azucar! Cuban legend and global icon Celia Cruz is back in an explosive new musical that its Miami premiere at the Adrienne Arsht center on June 18th.
A hit parade of her greatest songs, Celia takes you on an amazing 60-year musical journey through the life and music of the sensational salsa diva, from her humble beginnings in Cuba to the international superstardom that made her one of the most remarkable Hispanic artists who has ever lived. Told through the eyes of Celia's beloved husband, Pedro Knight, Celia reincarnates the magnificent star adored by millions. Celia's company of 16 singers, dancers and musicians. Celia currently stars Annisa Gathers in the title role with Modesto Lacen as Pedro Knight, Selenis Leyva as a Woman and Pedro Capo as the Nurse with Sunilda Carabello, Grizel "Chachi" Del Valle, Sekou McMiller, Wilson Mendieta, Elvis Nolasco and Sonja Perryman. Celia is written by Carmen Rivera and Candido Tirado, directed by Jaime Azpilicueta and co-produced by David Maldonado.
Among the guest at opening night included long time manager Omer Perdillo, spanish talk show queen Cristina Saralegui with husband Marcos Avila, rapper Pitbull, Albita Rodriguez, Mexican singer Ana Gabriel, Jon Secada, Roberto Torres and local newscasters Lisette Gonzalez, and Maribel Rodriguez. Also Adrienne Arsht, Univision president Ray Rodriguez, Miami commissioner Joe Sanchez, Big Time's Eugene Rodriguez, Tito Puente, Jr, son of the late Tito Puente, Broadway publicist Charlie Cinnamon, and Ricky Arriola.
