Stars come out for Celebrity Autobiography at the Arsht Center


Who would of thought that reading a celebrity autobiography would be so funny? Well definitely so when you have well known comedians and actors reading them. This past weekend's celebrity line up included Saturday Night Live's funny lady Rachel Dratch, Burn Notice's and Miami resident Sharon Gless, Craig Bierko, actor in the Cinderella Man with Russell Crowe, the super funny Mario Cantone, aka Anthony Marentino on Sex in the City, along with creator's of the show Roger Bart and Dayle Reyfel.

The show is Celebrity Autobiography and it's playing at the Carnival Theater at the Adrienne Arsht Center through May 15.

It's the funniest show at the Arsht Center EVER!!!

Don't miss Taye Diggs this weekend at Prelude at the Arsht Center



Taye Diggs been on Broadway in Rent, he's been in films like How Stella Got Her Groove Back, he's been on television in the series Private Practice and performing two shows at Prelude by Barton G. at the Adrienne Arsht Center.

On Thursday afternoon we sat in on his rehearsal, which should be an amazing show with a full band. Shows are at 10 p.m. tonight Friday and tomorrow Saturday. Get up and close to this amazingly versatile artist. Call (305) 357-7900 for reservations.

Ochocinco is a fan of Alvin Ailey


Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco and fiance Evelyn Lozada attended the matinee performance of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater at the Arsht Center.

After the show Ochocinco came backstage to meet the cast, Artistic Director Judith Jamison, and Robert Battle, who will succeed Judith Jamison as Artistic Director of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.

Robert Battle and Chad Ochocinco also have something in common...they both grew up in Liberty City. Proud Miamian's making headlines!!!

Arsht Center Celebrates 5th Anniversary


Broadway star and 4-time Tony award nominee Raul Esparza, fresh from his recent musical with Brooke Shields LEAP OF FAITH, entertained Miami's VIPS and arts supporter celebrate the Adrienne Arsht Performing Arts Center's fifth anniversary.

The Who's Who of list included, Adrienne Arsht, Gala chairs Marvin Ross Friedman, Adrienne bon Haes, Mike Eidson, and Dr. Margaret Eidson, Republica's Jorge Plasencia, Univision president Cesar Conde with wife Pamela Silva-Conde, Sanford and Dolores Ziff, Parker Thompson, James Ferraro, David Martin, Alberto and Susana Ibarguen, former Miami Mayor Manny Diaz, Max Pierre, Arsht Center CEO John Richard, and Knight Foundation's Dennis Scholl.

The night also presented the new donors engraved wall of fame of supporters of the center.

DREAMGIRLS hits the Adrienne Arsht stage


Miami's American Idol Syesha Mercado returned to the Arsht Center last night, this time as part of the cast of the Broadway Series', DREAMGIRLS.

The show also stars the powerful voice of Moya Angela (Effie White) and Adrienne Warren (Michelle Morris). Show runs through this Sunday, October 24.

Cyndi Lauper Having Fun in Miami


The ever popular Cyndi Lauper was back in Miami performing at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. She performed all her greatest hits including "Time after Time" and "Girls just want to have fun".

During her concert, the jovial singer took to the audience going up and down the aisles and hugging fans.

Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz, Jr. visit Miami City Hall

Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz, Jr. visited Miami City Hall to receive proclaimations and to re-create the famous photo taken more than 50 years ago of their legendary parents, Lucielle Ball and Desi Arnaz.

The image taken in the 1950's at Miami City Hall by the grandfather of Miami commissioner Willy Gort for Diario Las Americas also had then Mayor Randy Christmas, and fellow I Love Lucy cast members Vivian Vance (Ethel Mertz) and William Frawley (Fred Mertz).

In the recreation of the photo, Miami's current Mayor Tomas Regalado posed alongside Lucie and Desi, Jr. with commissioner  Frank Carollo.  Other's present were the Aguirre family, including longtime publisher of Diario Las Americas, Horacio Aguirre.

Lucie Arnaz brought her father-inspired musical show, Babalu to the Arsht Center, which runs through Sunday.

"Africa's premier diva" Angelique Kidjo performs at the Arsht Center

Grammy award-winning artist, Angelique Kidjo, performed last night at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts.

Known as "Africa's premier diva" by Time Magazine, she has done collaborations with Carlos Santana, Peter Gabriel, Alicia Keys, Josh Groban, Branford Marsalis, Joss Stone, and more. Amazing show!!!

Billy Crystal performs to sold out concerts at the Arsht Center

Comedian Billy Crystal performed to sold out concerts of his touring show 700 Sunday's at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts.

After the show, before he headed to his hotel or dinner at Joe's Stone Crab, he greeted fans, signed autographs, and chatted about his favorite Yankees.

Versatile actor and rap artist MOS DEF makes history by being the first hip hop artist to perform at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. He performed his hits No Hay Nada Mas from The Ecstatic, Ms. Fat Booty and Umi Says to a sold out crowd on Saturday night.

Fuerza Bruta comes to Miami after rave reviews in New York


Audiences in Argentina, Brazil, Russia, Mexico have raved at the indoor spectacular of illusions, music, lighting and acrobatic stunts. Now Fuerza Bruta comes to Miami with nightly shows through July at the Adrienne Arsht Center of the Performing Arts.

An accent to the show is The G-Lounge, created by the great Barton G, with a creative menu of frozen tequila shots, chocolate banana on a stick as well as a chicken taquito on a stick. The G-Lounge will be opened before the show and after the show for late partying.
