New DACRA Master Plan Renderings for Miami's Design District

Plummer street is a pedestrian friendly walk way connecting the Oak Plaza, shopping areas and new parking. The beautiful huge trees at Oak Plaza have been preserved.

Above the Celine store on the roof, Dacra will have a roof top garden, available for events. The expansion plans also include plenty of more trees throughout the district to provide more shade on sidewalks.

Design District eateries includes Michael's Genuine, Sra. Maritnez (which is closing), Harry's Pizza, Egg and Dart, Orange Cafe, Parchment cafe, Frateli. Night venues include The Stage and Gavana. More to come...

Among the current stores and soon-to-be in the Design District include: Christian Louboutin, Fendi Casa, LVMH brands opening in this summer Louis Vuitton, Cartier, and Celine, Hermes opening a 3 story locale, Dior and we hear a Barney's Co-op, but not confirmed.

Buckminster Fuller’s Fly’s Eye Dome, owned by Craig Robins, will be surrounded by a palm garden and will be the entrance/exit to underground parking garage.

Hurricane Grill & Wings opens at the Shops of Midtown just in time for football season

Hurricane Grill and Wings, new neighborhood bar is the latest addition to the Midtown Miami/Wynwood/Design District area. Hurricane Grill and Wings is a franchised sports bar and restaurant, famous for its delicious bar food like Garlic and Parmesan Fries, Wood-Smoked Fish Dip with Mahi-Mahi and Wahoo, Boneless Chicken Wings with various sauces to choose from, and other regular staples like juicy burgers and nachos.

Also on the menu is the extensive world class beer selection and plasma TV's throughout, just in time football season and for the Miami Heat Dream Team Season.

Thursday, August 26, 2010, from 5-9pm, Hurricane Grill and Wings will host an opening party so come check it out and enjoy the sample buffet and live music.

KID’S TIME TO DINE AT PACIFIC TIME IN THE DESIGN DISTRICT

Chef/owner and James Beard nominee, Jonathan Eismann, is giving gourmets another reason to love his critically acclaimed restaurant, Pacific Time. In the wake of being named one of the “Best New Restaurants in the USA,” by Esquire magazine, Eismann has just created a healthy and adventuresome children’s menu, with organic products and many gluten free options, reflecting the beautiful simplicity and flavor of his revered cuisine. Available for lunch or dinner, for children of all ages, the menu includes a la carte small plates and two incredible tasting menus for the budding gourmets. The children’s menu launched early February 2009 and has been kid tested and approved.

“Growing up with a chef for a father, my children love to dine out and share my excitement for food”, said Eismann. “But I noticed very few restaurants were offering kid-friendly menus – and I couldn’t find any menus with gluten free options. My children and those of my friends, were my inspiration when I created this menu; emphasizing straight forward, familiar, flavorful dishes, made with healthy ingredients, in appropriate portions, so that children may be exposed to a variety of flavors, early in life.”

Inspired by her father’s passion, Eismann’s eldest daughter, Morgan (age 8) joined in the fun, creating the colorful Pacific Time children’s menu cover.

The kid's menu includes comfort inspiring cream of tomato soup, a juicy center cut sirloin steak served with Idaho potato chips, a crispy panko chicken paillard topped with fries; and a modernized kids’ classic, spaghettini with fresh tomato sauce or butter & grana parmigiano, among others.

To add fun to the mix, kids may revel in making their own Little Pizza, with a choice of cheeses, herbs and sauces. Last, but definitely not least, desserts ($5), all gluten-free, include a choice of yummy options such as a banana split, vanilla ice cream sundae,berries & cream, fresh pineapples slices, and apple & organic agave syrup. Sure to hit all the right notes, a Big Cookie, priced at $7, includes a quarter pan of sugar cookie dough with a choice of chips and sprinkles, which gets designed by the kids and then baked to order. The Little Pizza and Big Cookie, Eismann notes, keeps the kids busy while the parents enjoy their meals.

The new children’s menu is available for lunch and dinner.

ATTENTION ART LOVERS: If you're heading to the Wynwood Art District and Design District this week...

Art patrons heading to art fairs and galleries in the Miami Design District and Wynwood Art district need to remember parking. For those of you not using cabs or a driver, The Shops at Midtown Miami's parking garage can accomodate 1,200 cars. They're an official Art Basel parking venue and will have a special rate of only $5. The garage is located at NE 31st Street and N.Miami Ave. City of Miami is also providing busses to the various fairs, including Art Miami, Pulse, Scope, Design Miami, and Photo Miami.
