Equinox Fitness Opens in Aventura
Equinox Fitness Clubs celebrated their South Florida expansion into the City of Aventura with an inaugural ribbon cutting ceremony. The new location is open at the Aventura Mall and this celebratory occasion marked their third location in South Florida, following the Coral Gables and South Beach locations. The ribbon cutting ceremony included the Equinox CEO, Harvey Spevak and the Mayor of Aventura, Susan Gottlieb.
The ribbon cutting ceremony was a grand moment for Equinox Fitness Clubs. Aventura Mayor Susan Gottlieb attended, as did Vice Mayor Zev Auerback and Aventura’s local commissioners Bob Diamond, Michael Stern and Luz Weinberg for the notable occasion.

The 30,000 square foot Aventura location houses four Group Fitness studios: a Main Studio, Studio Cycling, a Yoga Studio and a Pilates Studio which offers highly trained personal trainers and instructors, diverse group fitness classes, pilates and more. The Shop at Equinox offers the latest designs in fitness fashion, workout wear and lifestyle apparel. Full service locker rooms include luxury amenities and steam rooms. The club also features the latest in fitness and cardio equipment, a Juice Bar and café, Kid’s club for daycare, a Wi-Fi lounge to complement the fitness routine and a spa with four treatment rooms which provides a sanctuary for relaxation and renewal pre- or post-workout.
“We at Equinox Fitness Clubs are extremely gracious for the warm-welcome we have received by the Aventura community and its officials with this symbolic event ceremony.” says Harvey Spevak, CEO of Equinox Fitness Clubs. “Having Mayor Susan Gottlieb, Vice Mayor Zev Auerback and City of Aventura commissioners Bob Diamond, Michael Stern and Luz Weinberg here for this occasion truly solidifies a grand announcement and a true partnership.” According to Spevak, the Aventura club boasts the cutting-edge equipment and programs, well-maintained ambiance, inspirational workout environment and unparalleled focus on the members’ experience which has always made Equinox such a success.
“In planning our growth strategy to expand within the South Florida market,” says Spevak, “we decided to focus on the Aventura resident and those who work there. We believe these are individuals who appreciate quality and innovation in their lifestyle and--when it comes to fitness—didn’t have these options with the current operators on the market until our arrival.”

THE BRITS HAVE ARRIVED! TED BAKER AVENTURA GRAND OPENING UK STYLE WITH A MIAMI TWIST

Notable Socialites, Trendy Apparel and
Ted Baker Lurking About
Ted Baker officially launched their fabulous new store at the Aventura Mall with a stellar VIP grand opening. Not only were the 200 guests in awe of the
Ted Baker spring collection – The womenswear takes a glamorous, romantic approach to feminine apparel. While the menswear combines relaxed sophistication with razor sharp tailoring – they were also graced with the presence of the man behind the brand for the celebratory evening.
Greeted with a hot pink carpet as they entered the store’s giant gilt frame frontage, there was a clear indication that this store is certainly not ordinary. A welcoming glass of Sapphire ‘Brit 75’ and Bombay’s ‘Ted-tinis’ gave the shopping elite a taste of Ted’s daily offerings. The evening included a montage of beautiful people, fine hors d’oeuvres, including grilled mint ginger and lime-spiked shrimp and Thai beef salad from Shiraz FL, and of course, shopping.
The night quickly came to an unwelcomed end, but surprises were still to come, courtesy of this decidedly quirky brand. TED BAKER himself announced one lucky guest to be the winner of a $1500 shopping spree. Then finally, there were His and Her gift bags, containing Ted Baker wallets with cufflinks for the gents and Ted Baker silk handkerchiefs and Bombay martini glasses for the ladies. These were presented as a memento of the evening as guests departed.
The event was hosted by an illustrious committee comprised of Frank Kelly, Esquire magazine’s “America’s Best Dressed Real Man”, Katrina Campins, founder of the Campins Company and star of the first season of The Apprentice; Dana Shear, co-owner and sales executive of Shear Construction and Development; Vivianne Kurzweil, Miami socialite; Susie and Walid Wahab, a notable society couple and owners of Wahab Construction. Other guests in attendance included, Gigi Ghovanloo, owner of Monsieur Spa;James Green, London architect; Jillian Jacobson, Miami socialite and philanthropist; Joe Lorusso, Miami Beach Attorney; Phillip Goldfarb, President and COO of Turnberry Associates; and Robert Onushka, owner of Stella’s Sweet Shoppe.
"It's great to see Ted Baker open its doors again in South Florida. They offer a cutting-edge line of men's suits, shirts and jackets that appeal to both the young trendsetters and the more conservative demographic that wants to achieve a modern look. The event was great and I'll definitely be wearing Ted Baker suits at work and on the town,” said Frank Kelly, host committee member.
Make no mistake, the Ted Baker store at the Aventura Mall is a sight to behold. It brings classic English design to life, Miami style, and proves first impressions count. Flamingos hanging from the ceilings and a stuffed swan decorate the 2,000 square feet, themed exotic paradise. While the five luxurious dressing rooms, draped in deep purple curtains, create an elaborate yet inviting feel. There’s even a plush, round gold couch, for your added leisure.

Meet Ted Baker: Aventura's newest resident

TED BAKER UNVEILS FLAGSHIP STORE AT AVENTURA MALL
(photos by Manny Hernandez and Juan Monino for MHPIXS.com)
Renowned the world over for his attention to detail and quirky sense of humour, Ted Baker is celebrating the grand opening of his fabulous new flagship store at Aventura Mall, Thursday, February 7 from 6pm to 9pm. What’s more as well as experiencing Ted’s divine spring collections over a few tipples, guests will enjoy the company of the man himself for the evening.
The event will also be hosted by a committee comprised of Michael Capponi, nightlife impresario and developer, and his model wife, Erin Henry; Frank Kelly, Esquire magazine’s “America’s Best Dressed Real Man” and friend, Katrina Campins, founder of the Campins Company and star of the first season of The Apprentice; Dana Shear, co-owner and sales executive of Shear Construction and Development; Vivianne Kurzweil, Miami socialite; and Susie and Walid Wahab, a notable society couple and owners of Wahab Construction.
Like all Ted Baker stores, Aventura was bespoke designed by Ted. With a giant gilt frame around the store frontage, from the outset it’s obvious that this is certainly no ordinary store. Who better than Ted to explain the inspiration for the store’s décor:
“The store brings classic English design to life, Miami style. A regal white swan, owned by Queen Elizabeth II herself – as all swans are in the UK – is juxtaposed with a pink flamingo - Miami’s poster bird. Oversized British landscapes are painted in unexpected neon colours. While a classic Chesterfield seating area has been created in gold leather and lamé to reflect the glamour and decadence of Miami’s famed nightlife. I think it’s one of my finest designs to date.”
While Ted Baker started out as a shirt specialist in Glasgow in 1988, these days he’s much, much more. In addition to his delectable womenswear, menswear and kidswear collections, he’s brought his unique vision to fragrances, watches, eyewear and mobile communications. In fact, with some thirty stores around the world as well as XX in the UK, Ted Baker is very much a global lifestyle brand. Or as Ted prefers to put it, ‘No Ordinary Designer Label.’
