Nicoleta bring's Cuban spirit to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week SWIM

One of the most energetic, get up dance shows during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week SWIM, was the Nicoleta show. The show was full of cha cha a la Carmen Miranda, with special guest models: shoe designer Lisa Pliner, Cheetah Girl's Adrienne Bailon and Real Housewives of Miami's Adriana de Moura (pictured).

Nicoleta offered essential colors of Cuba like Mango Orange, Sol Yellow, Mar Teal and Orchid Violet. The Cuban born designer brought tropical flavor and vintage style in her 2012 collection. Her collection offers no-pinch fit, coverage on the hips and heart-shaped backside.

VIP's came out to support including shoe king Donald Pliner, socialite Dana Shear, and luxury handbag designer Laura Buccellati. Guest were treated to a very entertaining, bass pumping show and generous gift bag that included curling iron, plantain chips and guava.

Miami resident Chad Ochocinco came out for the opening day Diesel show sponsored by Skyy Vodka at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week SWIM at the Raleigh hotel.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week SWIM begins

Year's ago everyone would leave Miami head to Europe and up north because they say "Miami is dead in the summer". Not anymore.

Between four TV series being filmed in our city (Charlie's Angels, Burn Notice, Magic City, and The Glades), Rock of Ages movie starring Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin and others and the week long Mercedes-Benz Miami Beach Fashion Week SWIM, its been one busy summer. Not to mention huge concerts visiting: U2, Riahnna, and Britney Spears.

Miami Beach Fashion Week SWIM, is the swimwear's premiere showcase for magazine editor's and buyers for the 2012 season. This year with showcases by Diesel, Beach Bunny, White Sands Australia, Red Carter, Mara Hoffman, Zingara, and more.

Expect many celebrities, VIP's, and industry types reviewing shows and sipping on Skyy Vodka drinks, one of the sponsors of this year's event. Other sponsors include: Mercedes-Benz, Amercian Express, DHL, Ocean Drive magazine, Windows and Raleigh Hotel.

Olivia Newton-John host benefit at the Raleigh hotel

Olivia Newton-John along with her brother Emerson Newton-John hosted the "Pink and Blue for Two" fundraising event to spread awareness of prostate and breast cancer. The event at the Raleigh hotel included performances by Inner Circle and Jon Secada.

Guest included: Dr. Ernie Bodai, Michael Valdes, Barry and Linda Gibb, Maryel Epps, Carlos Betancourt, Martin Krediet, Alan Randolph, Hope Gainer, Mary Jo Shore, Louis Aguirre, Gingi Beltran, pop artist Stephen Gamson, Lisa Pliner and spinning Elaine Lancaster.

JVC Jazz Festival 2008 celebrated its After Dark at the Oasis party at the Raleigh hotel on Miami Beach. CondeNast Traveler, Don Julio tequila, presented the after party festivities with performances by Raul Midon, Yoruba Soul Orchestra, Quetzal Gerrero (pictured), and Siji.

Local and nationally award winning artist, photographer, graphic designer and animator, Laura Paresky Gould, presented her latest works titled,Miami Weather Almanac, at the private reception held at the penthouse of the Raleigh hotel. Among the 200 guest: Ocean Drive magazine's Glenn Albin and Eric Newill, Jim Budman, Iran Issa Khan, Niche Media's Alan Randolph, Jessica Goldman, Allison Spear, Architectual Digest's Adrienne Kauderer and Jodie Winsor, Modern Luxury magazine president Leslie Wolfson, Leslie Zigel, WSVN 7 meteorologist David Bernard, Laura's parent's Linda and David Paresky and Terry Riley, the new director of the Miami Art Museum.
Miami Weather Almanac is a series of bright-colored artworks by Laura Paresky Gould. At first glance, the works on paper, canvas, collage, and video are delightful graphic color studies of circles, stripes, and squares; yet each is layered with historical information. The work visually dispenses the data of Miami record temperatures from 1839 through spring 2007 using information derived from the National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration (NOAA).
