14th Annual Miami HEAT Family Festival raises $450,000 for various charities

The 14th Annual Miami HEAT Family Festival presented by Carnival Cruise Lines brought together players, fans and families to raise money for great cause.

Miami Heat players played drums, posed for photos, signed autographs and enjoyed the food. Players included The Big 3: LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh. Mike Miller, Udonis Haslem, and Juwan Howard performed with the Caribbean band.

The Caribbean HEAT themed festival including foods courtesy of some of Miami's best restaurants, including 8oz Burger Bar, Benihana, David's Cuban Cafe, and Chef Irie. Drinks provided by Bacardi.

Watson Island was transformed to Caribbean HEAT island with a petting zoo, silent auction dunk tank, sandy beach, crab races and appearances by mascots from South Florida teams. Music was provided by Felicia, KyMani Marley and superstar DJ Irie.

All net proceeds benefit Jackson Memorial Foundation’s Guardian Angels, SafeSpace, a domestic violence shelter for women and children, the Miami Coalition for a Safe & Drug-Free Community and the Miami HEAT Charitable Fund.

Chris Bosh looking like a GQ model


Miami Heat star Chris Bosh was the special guest last night at a fashion event hosted by GQ and Neiman Marcus, Merrick Park. The event benefited the Buoniconti Fund and the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis.

Flo Rida: We Already Won

Miami's own Flo Rida recently produced a new Miami Heat anthem, "We Already Won" the day after the big announcement was made that Lebron James was coming to Miami.

A big fan of the Heat, Flo Rida told Parade magazine, "It came together very quickly. All we wanted to do was boost their morale, because now a great team is even greater."

Miami Heat's Carlos Arroyo attempts music biz


Another Miami Heat player in the news.  Carlos Arroyo attempts a stab at the music business, with a reggaeton jam “Se Va Conmigo feat. Yomo”.

Sure other NBA player's like Shaq and Allen Iverson have tried music careers, but Arroyo has actually  received support from fellow Puerto Rican's and music types. He might even get into acting. His cousin is Academy Award winning actor Benecio del Toro.

New Miami Heat Chris Bosh also with Ocean Drive magazine

New power forward for the new Miami Heat Dream Team, Chris Bosh received a "Welcome to Miami" reception at The Forge restaurant on Miami Beach. Ocean Drive Magazine, which organized the welcome, also presented Chris a special one-of-a-kind portrait painting by Miami's own Romero Britto.

Guest included Forge owner Shareef Malnik, Niche media president Jason Binn, Ocean Drive magazine publisher Courtland Lantaff, socialites Iran Issa Khan and Hello Campos, Ocean Drive Editor-in Chief Suzy Buckley and Dr. Rian Maercks.

In addition to his role as a Miami Heat, Chris will have a monthly column in Ocean Drive. Can't wait to check that out...

Presidente beer hosted its “TRUE LIVE INN” event at Plunge at The Gansevoort

Presidente Imported Beer hosted the ultimate finale to its highly successful summer-long promotion – True Live Inn – with an exclusive VIP party at Plunge at Gansevoort South Hotel.

Plunge at The Gansevoort South Hotel was transformed into Presidente’s signature haven of Caribbean cool. In true Presidente style, the music and entertainment for the night brought a taste of True Living in the Caribbean with eclectic beats provided by the impresario of smooth groove and Latin beats, DJ Brass King, the rare groove selector. A special guest appearance was made by Udonis Haslem of the Miami Heat along with The Miami Heat Dancers.

Zo's Summer Groove celebrates its 12th anniversary



Miami Heat star player Alonzo Mourning celebrated his annual Zo's Summer Groove and this year introducing Dwayne Wade. This years events included The Nike ZSG Youth Basketball Clinic at the Miramar Youth Enrichment Center in Broward,The City Furniture ZSG Golf Classic at Doral Golf Resort and Spa, The Nike ZSG Youth Basketball Clinic at the Overtown Youth Center, Publix ZSG Benefit Dinner, Michael Fux Foundation ZSG Foundation Summit also at the Intercontinental, The Heineken ZSG Mega Comedy Show hosted by Rush Hour star Chris Tucker at the Seminole Hard Rock hotel in Hollywood, and on Sunday ZSG Block party, culminating with the Carnival Cruise Line ZSG All-Star Basketball Game at the American Airlines Arena.
At this year ZSG dinner at the Intercontinental Hotel guest included: actress Gabrielle Union, Anthony Kennedy Shriver and wife Alina Shriver, Morton Aagaard with wife Stepahnie Sayfie-Aagaard, The Forge restaurant's Shareef Malnik, Ocean Drive's Jerry Powers, artistLebo, Norma Jean Abraham, artist Erika King, Delano's Mark Tamis, DJ Irie, TV's Judge Hackett, Jena Green, Nick Arison, Michael Straham, Nicole Murphy, host Alonzo Mourning with wife Tracy Mourning along with Dwayne Wade. The night also featured a live and silent auction and a special performance by Queen Latifah.
Zo's Summer Groove benefits Alonzo Mourning Charities, Honey Child Mentoring Program and Wade's World Foundation.
