Just when you thought we have reality shows galore in Miami, we have another popular show coming to our city, PBS' Antique Roadshow. The show will be in Miami on Saturday, July 10th, 2010 and it will take place at the Miami Beach Convention Center. MAPNOW

Some important things you should know:

• You must have a ticket to enter the event.
• Each ticket holder can bring TWO items.
• Your item(s) must fit through a standard door.
• Vehicles, stamps, paper currency, coins and glass fire extinguishers cannot be appraised.
• If you plan to bring an antique or vintage firearm for appraisal, please read important information on Antiques Roadshow website.
• Please do not arrive more than 30 minutes before the entrance time on your ticket.
• You must be able to carry or move your item throughout the event. They do not provide dollies or carts or assistance of any kind.
• Expect long lines, and patience.

Check out the Antiques Roadshow locally on Channel 2, Monday nights at 8pm and WLRN on Tuesdays, at 8pm.

FREEDOM TOWER EVENT UNVEILS NEW CUBAN HISTORY

NPR international correspondent Tom Gjelten read from his new book, Bacardi and the Long Fight for Cuba: The Biography of a Cause, at Miami’s historic Freedom Tower, America’s most recognized icon of Cuban immigration.

Publisher’s Weekly says “Gjelten’s account of a liberal, progressive Cuban business clan complicates and enriches the conventional picture of a society torn between left and right dictatorships.”

Gjelten’s book provides a unique history of Cuba, captured in the life and times of the famous rum dynasty. The event and reception, was presented by Miami Dade College and Friends of WLRN.

Friends of WLRN 10th Annual True Friend Breakfast

The annual True Friend Breakfast celebrated its 10th year, an event to give acknowledgement for generous contributors in support of Public Broadcasting at WLRN. This year's guest speaker was Kai Ryssdal, host of Marketplace, heard every weeknight at 6:00 p.m. on 91.3 FM WLRN. Among the power player's that attended this year's event: Rick Lewis, CEO, Friend's of WLRN, Baptist Health of South Floria CEO, Brian E. Keeley, Michael Spring, Director of the Miami-Dade County Cultural Affairs, publicist Charlie Cinnamon, Sunglass Hut founder Sanford Ziff with wife Dolores Ziff, Miami Herald's Features editor Shelley Accoca, Channel 10's Michael Putney, Michael Aller Director of Tourism and Convention, Chief of Protocol, City of Miami Beach, aka "Mr. Miami Beach", Miami International Film Festival publicist, Maria E.
