Jennifer Lopez Kicks Off March for Babies

Actress Jennifer Lopez joined March of Dimes by kicking off the March for Babies in Key Biscayne as the 2009 National Honorary Chair. She also help the March of Dimes and sanofi pasteur raise awareness of a serious threat to the health of babies —pertussis, more commonly known as whooping cough, through her role as spokesperson for The Sounds of Pertussis Campaign.

More than 8,000 people laced up their sneakers for a 4-mile beach walk on Key Biscayne and help raise dollars to support the March of Dimes.

Others in attendance included March of Dimes President Dr. Jennifer Howse; March of Dimes Board of Trustee Chair Ken May; and March for Babies Chair Gene Schaefer, Channel 10's Laurie Jennings, and Univision's Javier Romero.
