Joey's restaurant opens in Wynwood

Another great vision has come to Wynwood, Joey's Italian cafe. Joey Goldman, son and partner of visionary Tony Goldman, opens his first restaurant in the Wynwood Arts District, located at 2506 N.W. 2 Avenue.

The Goldman's are known for bringing magic to distress urban areas like they have in New York's Meatpacking district, Wall Street, SoHo, and South Beach. Now it's Wynwood's turn. They own 20 commercial properties, including a property they donated Goldman Warehouse to the Museum of Contemporary Art.

During Art Basel week, the restaurant opened its doors, with a ribbon cutting by Miami Mayor Manny Diaz. Also at the VIP opening, Joey and Thea Goldman, Tony and Janet Goldman, Scott Srebnick and wife Jessica Goldman-Srebnick, Terra Group developer Pedro Martin, Haute Living magazine publisher Kamal Hotchandani, Forge owner Shareef Malnik, another Wynwood visionary Dennis Peters, Art magnet Gary Nadar, publicist Larry Carino and Susan Brustman, Joey's GM Simone Cattaneo and nightlife businessman Michael Capponi.

A modern italian food restaurant, with 40 seats inside and 35 on an outdoor terrace, serves great dishes like salad of radicchio and bacala ($10), classic pizza Margherita ($8), and our favorite, lamb chops with a juniper berry reduction served with polenta ($24) created by celebrated chef Ivo Mazzon.

In late July, the Miami City Commission approved a special district, designed to give the area an economic boost and allowing 25 liquor licenses to operate within the district to sale alcoholic beverages by restaurants, bars, and nightclubs.

Amazing wine list, ambience, affordable and a true Italian café experience.

Joey’s Italian serves lunch Monday – Friday and dinner Monday - Saturday. Valet parking available. 305-438-0488.

Sometime next year Joey Goldman hopes to open a French-Vietnamese, nearby.
