The Reclamation Project art project by artist Xavier Cortada at The Miami Science Museum

Miami artist Xavier Cortada presents his The Reclamation Project and Native Flags project at the Miami Science Museum. A total of 1,200 mangrove seedlings displayed on the of the wildlife center of the museum. As Cortada describes, "The project explores the ability to coexist with the natural world. It reminds us of what our community looked like before all the concrete was poured." For a few months, the mangrove seedlings will "reclaim" the land where thrived just a few decades ago. Afterwards, the seedlings will be planted along Biscayne Bay. Thisnew mangrove colony will eventually rebuild the ecosystems above and below the water line. Witnessing this amazing display of ecoart: City of Miami commisioner Joe Sanchez, MSM board members Susie and Walid Wahad, MAM director Terry Riley, MSM VP of Communications Tony Lima, Ray Salangapani, Sean Duran, and Anne Johnson. This was a great way to start Art Basel week!!!!
